What can Reiki treat?
Reiki assists the body in supporting healing. It complements traditional, Western medicine and is practiced in many hospitals and medical care settings. Reiki can be used to improve symptoms for many conditions including:
- Anxiety and stress
- Panic attacks
- Chronic and acute pain
- Post-operative recovery
- IBS and reflux
Receiving a Reiki healing is a deeply relaxing treatment. Starting from the very first session, it balances and restores harmony to body and mind. A treatment can last from 45 minutes to an hour. I treat clients at my practice in Chelsea.
East meets West
The Japanese words Rei and Ki translates as universal energy. Eastern medicine systems work with this energy, which they believe flows through all living things and is vital to well being. The energy is known as ‘Ki’ in Japan, ‘Chi’ in China and ‘prana’ in India.
Reiki is therapeutic energy healing technique. It was developed in Japan in 1922 by Mikao Usui. It is now used worldwide and is said to reduce stress, enhance relaxation and promote healing. It balances the energy in and around your body to help on a physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual level.
What happens during a session?
On your first visit, you will have an opportunity to discuss your general wellbeing. This will include any specific health or emotional challenges you are facing.
Usually you lie down to receive Reiki with outer layers and shoes removed. However, you can be seated or in any comfortable position. Your eyes can be open or closed.
The practitioner places their hands on, or just above your body. They move their hands across your body, usually starting at your head and working down to your feet, but may focus on particular areas of the body.
You tend to see the best results from 3 sessions within a fairly short space of time. Then take a break before having more treatments.
I received my training at the London Reiki Academy under the expert guidance of Torsten Lange.
